Community Involvement and Sponsored Events

The Iota Alpha Sigma chapter is proud to support a variety of community initiatives and causes throughout the year:

Black Spend Initiative: We proudly support Phi Beta Sigma’s "Black Spend Initiative" by organizing monthly events at local minority-owned businesses and promoting the importance of supporting Black-owned enterprises.

Horses with Sigma: In collaboration with We Ride Too and Good Health Wins, we host this mental health awareness event that provides a unique equine experience as a pathway to wellness.

Juneteenth Celebrations: Our chapter actively volunteers during the Suisun City Juneteenth Celebration and participates in the San Francisco Juneteenth Parade, commemorating this important historical event.

March of Dimes Marathon: We sponsor and encourage members to participate in and fundraise for the March of Dimes annual marathon, supporting maternal and infant health.

Autism Awareness: Partnering with Mocha Autism Network, we take part in events like the "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" national walk for autism awareness and the annual "Sip and Chat" Pre-Father’s Day event.

African-American Read-In: Our members volunteer at local elementary schools for African-American Read-In Day, helping to promote literacy and education among young students.

Black Joy Parade: We march annually in the Black Joy Parade in Oakland, CA, celebrating Black culture and resilience.

Pantherfest: Huey P. Newton Day: Our chapter supports the "Pantherfest" event, which celebrates the installation of the Huey P. Newton bust and the anniversary of the founding of the Black Panther Party, honoring the legacy of our illustrious brother.

The chapter also enjoys supporting other chapters, fraternities, and sororities, especially their constitutionally bound sister organization, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
